Летний Берег Стрия “Summer Shore of Striy” This is a great melody that includes the bandola and accordion. The bandola is a Ukrainian string instrument and this song bring the Ukrainian Bandola together with the Russian Accordion in symbolic pairing of two nationalities. Stryi (Стрий) was the first Ukrainian town that I visited in Ukraine, having met a nice girl from there back in the 90’s. Whenever I mention the town (it was literally a village back in the 90’s) to Russians (and often Ukrainians), they usually don’t know what town I’m speaking of, but it’s usually due to my pronunciation – I usually spell it out to them with Russian letters with the ий being the area where my pronunciation is lacking.
